A message for our clients about the coronavirus

We appreciate your patience as we all collectively adjust to the fluid situation COVID-19 is creating. Our goal is to keep you updated as to how Safelite is adapting to the ever-changing circumstances and what the impact will be to you and your policyholders.

As of today, all of Safelite’s locations remain open and operational throughout the country. At this point, the services we provide fall into the automotive repair category and are considered essential to many as a part of critical day-to-day business.  Please know that as government-mandated restrictions continue to be implemented that these circumstances may change. We will do everything in our power to keep you updated in a timely manner as changes occur.

We are, however, taking extra precautions regarding the level of service provided by our technicians.  We are asking each of our technicians to limit interactions with customers in the following ways to eliminate any unnecessary contact and exercise social distancing:

  • We are asking our technicians not to shake customers’ hands. If the customer extends their hand, the technician will professionally offer an elbow bump or a smile and explain that Safelite is currently practicing a “No Handshake Policy” due to the outbreak of COVID-19. They may hear something like: “While I usually like to greet my customers with a handshake, I hope a smile will do for now as a way to help keep both us of healthy.”
  • We will not require customers to provide an electronic signature for completion of the claim, pre-inspection or credit card payment.
  • We may not perform the non-essential, value-added services, such as cleaning all windows or vacuuming the interior.
  • As a part of our Technician Profile Email, we will also offer customers the option to leave their keys on the dash for a no-contact experience. 

We will provide scripting to our CSRs and in our email service confirmations to notify and set customer service expectations.
